"Let me Tell You What Love Is" by Major Kit and The Bionic Defection
A Backstage Chronicles III Production
Kitman Culpepper, lead singer and wife of drummer Steve Culpepper passed away on November 21, 2021 from complications related to ovarian cancer. Throughout her 2 and a half year experience with cancer (Kit did not like to refer to it as a "battle"), she maintained a positive spirit, embraced life and became an inspiration to many as she found her spiritual balance, continued to work hard and perform live while bravely managing the unfortunate side effects of treatment.
Kit held Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in business, and held prestigious positions over the years in sales, marketing, and talent development. Martin Guitar was her favorite place to work in her 30 year professional career, where she not only created life-long friendships, but where she proudly played a key role in the career development of individuals, teams, and programs that helped shape the future of the legendary guitar company.
In her musical career, Kit has been in several original and tribute acts. Major Kit & The Bionic Defection was built on her desire to band her personal and professional love of music together, and most importantly, to have fun doing it!
She had an infectious laugh, an addictive smile and a powerful, yet comforting voice. Her strength, style, talent, compassion, leadership and love of life will always be remembered.

Ovarian cancer is difficult to detect in early stages. Too often the symptoms are overlooked. As in Kit's case, when it was found, her cancer had already advanced to stage 4. If you would like to make a donation to help develop an early detection screening program, a fund has been established at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey under the direction of Dr. Aliza Lieser in honor of Karen Elizabeth Stober and Kit Culpepper.
